A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT NO. 10-11-033,
FOR THE FIRST -IN FIRE STATION ALERTING SYSTEM, BY INCREASING THE
NOT TO EXCEED REPAIR CONTINGENCY AMOUNT OF $10,000.00 PER YEAR
TO A NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $50,000.00 PER YEAR TO INCLUDE
INSTALLATION SERVICES AS NEEDED, WITH FUNDING FOR FUTURE YEARS
SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND BUDGETARY APPROVAL AT
THE TIME OF NEED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE SERVICE AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND WESTNET, INC., FOR
SAID PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Westnet Alerting System is linked directly to the City of Miami's ("City's")
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, which automatically notifies the fire station, purging any
potential communication delays, thus streamlining the method of deploying firefighters and apparatus
and thereby shortening response time; and
WHEREAS, the current contract between the City and Westnet, Inc., for the First -In Fire
Station Alerting System, pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0403, adopted October 13, 2011, limits the
repair contingency to a not to exceed amount of $10,000.00 per year; and
WHEREAS, required renovations at certain fire stations and accompanying repairs to the
system have far exceeded the current repair contingency amount; and
WHEREAS, the current contract does not provide for installations at fire stations requiring said
services and needs to be amended to be inclusive of same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. An increase in the Sole Source Contract No. 10-11-033, for the First -In Fire Station
Alerting System, by increasing the not to exceed repair contingency amount of $10,000.00 per year,
to a not to exceed amount of $50,000.00 per year, to include installation services as needed, is
authorized, with funding for future years subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at
the time need.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Service
Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the City and Westnet, Inc., for said purposes.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
