A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AFTER AN ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, SUPPORTING TRAFFIC FLOW
MODIFICATIONS AT SOUTHWEST 55TH AVENUE ROAD AND SOUTHWEST 2ND
STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, WHICH INCLUDES THE INSTALLATION OF ONE (1)
TRAFFIC CIRCLE, AS DEPICTED IN EXHIBIT "A", ATTACHED AND
INCORPORATED; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND
TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ("COUNTY") PUBLIC WORKS AND WASTE
MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT TO CONSIDER APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSED
TRAFFIC FLOW MODIFICATIONS PURSUANT TO COUNTY CODE SECTION
2-96.1.
WHEREAS, at the request of residents, the Miami -Dade County ("County") Public Works and
Waste Management Department ("PWWM") conducted a traffic study to evaluate existing traffic
conditions in the surrounding area of the intersection of Southwest 55th Avenue Road and Southwest
2nd Street, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the traffic study, PWWM would consider this location for a traffic
circle based on traffic calming criteria for municipalities which provide the funding for such installations;
and
WHEREAS, this Resolution requests that PWWM consider approval of the proposed traffic
flow modifications pursuant to County Code Section 2-96.1;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. After an advertised public hearing, the Miami City Commission supports traffic flow
modifications at Southwest 55th Avenue Road and Southwest 2nd Street, Miami, Florida, which
includes the installation of one (1) traffic circle, as depicted in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of the Capital Improvements
and Transportation Program to transmit a copy of this Resolution to PWWM to consider the approval
of the proposed traffic flow modifications pursuant to County Code Section 2-96.1.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end often calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
