A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION URGING MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY TO CODESIGNATE NORTHWEST 2ND AVENUE FROM NORTHWEST
20TH STREET TO NORTHWEST 29TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "TONY
GOLDMAN BOULEVARD."
WHEREAS, Northwest 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, is a Miami -Dade County ("County") road
and the City of Miami ("City") does not have jurisdiction over this roadway; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is urging the County to codesignate Northwest 2nd Avenue
from Northwest 20th Street to Northwest 29th Street, Miami, Florida, as, "Tony Goldman Boulevard";
and
WHEREAS, Tony Goldman transformed communities in New York; Philadelphia; South Beach;
and most recently, the warehouse district of Wynwood in Miami; and
WHEREAS, in 2005, Tony Goldman marked the discovery of Wynwood in Midtown Miami,
acquiring and overseeing 25 properties, creating a tasteful and architecturally driven pedestrian
neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, at the 2009 Art Basel exhibition, Tony Goldman collaborated with Jeffery Dietch to
present the. Wynwood Walls, a mural park featuring the work of leading international street artists that
continues to evolve; and
WHEREAS, Tony Goldman was recognized by Miami Today as a past Miami Historic Legend,
and the American Institute of Architects, Miami Chapter presented him with the Developer of the Year
award in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Tony Goldman died as he lived with courage, dignity, and love on September 11,
2012; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission would like to honor Tony Goldman with this
codesignation for his good works, leadership, vision, and inspiration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission urges Miami -Dade County to codesignate Northwest
2nd Avenue from Northwest 20th Street to Northwest 29th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Tony Goldman
Boulevard."

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
