HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-14-0287City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-14-0287 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-00612 Final Action Date: 7/24/2014 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE TEMPORARY EVENT LIMITATION PER YEAR, FOR PRIVATE PROPERTY, PURSUANT TO SECTION 62-521(6)(4) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TO ALLOW THE COCONUT GROVE PLAYHOUSE PARKING LOT AT 3500 MAIN HIGHWAY MIAMI, FLORIDA, TO HOST TEMPORARY EVENTS CONSISTING OF THE OUTDOOR DISPLAY OF MOTION PICTURES BEGINNING JULY 24, 2014 AND ENDING JULY 24, 2015. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-521, of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), Temporary Events are limited to no more than two (2) events per year, per private property; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-521 of the City Code, the number of events may be waived upon affirmative vote of the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove Playhouse Parking Lot ("Property") wishes to host the Blue Starlite Mini Outdoor Movie Theatre; and WHEREAS, this use of the Property is contemplated to occur more than twice in the upcoming year; and WHEREAS, each event must still be permitted by the City of Miami ("City") to ensure life -safety and quality of life issues and appropriate conditions may be imposed on each permit; and WHEREAS, the proposed Temporary Event at the Property would be beneficial to the City's residents and businesses; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Pursuant to Section 62-521(b)(4), of the City Code, the temporary events limit (no more than two [2] events per year, for private property), at the Property, to host a temporary event consisting of series of outdoor displays of motion pictures of beginning July 24, 2014 and ending July 24, 2015, is waived. Section 3. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
