I; n City of Miami Commission Meeting of July 24th, 2014 DATE: SUBJECT: June 13, 2014 FILE: Authorizing an Agreement with Arts for Learning/Miami, Inc. REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: The Office of Grants Administration respectfully requests you approval and action of the City of Miami Commission by a 4/5ths affirmative vote, after an advertized public hearing ratifying, approving and confirming the City Manager's recommendation, and finding that competitive negotiation methods are not practicable or advantageous regarding the agreement for the educational services described below. The Department respectfully requests such recommendation, finding, and authorization in order to proceed with executing an agreement with Arts for Learning/Miami, Inc., to award funds, in the amount of $14,000.00 to operate the Art and Music component at Kinloch Park and Curtis Park as part of the Miami Learning Zone Out -of -School Program funded by the Children's Trust, for the 2014-2015 school year. During the previous years, Arts for Learning/Miami, Inc. has demonstrated its qualifications and capacity to serve the city through the following: 1. Providing visual and/or performing arts instruction at designated site. 2. Coordinating four hours of weekly instruction at the designated site. 3. Providing a Resident Artist at the site to teach thematic classes designed to help the students practice their communication skills, improve their visual literacy as well as develop their coginitive and physical functioning. 4. Providing each artist with paid training and planning in order to assist them in preparation for their residency. For the reasons stated above, as required by the Section 18-85(A) of the Code of the City of Miami, the Office of Grants Administration (1) recommends the execution of an agreement with Arts for Learning/Miami, Inc., for the 2014-2015 contract year be awarded to Arts for Learning/Miami Inc., which is qualified and has been providing said services described above for many years, and (2) finds that the competitive negotiated methods are not practicable or advantageous for the provision of the aforementioned services at Kinloch Park and Curtis Park. If these recommendations and findings meet with your approval, please indicate by signing below.
