for Education Initiatives 2014-2015".
Purpose of Item:
Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a grant from The Children's Trust, in the amount
of $86, 722.00 and further appropriating the City's in -kind services match in the total amount of
$10,795.00 corresponding to the services provided to the program by the City's Education Initiative
Coordinator within her regular working time, and allocating to and establishing a new Special
Revenue Project entitled "The Children's Trust Grant for Education Initiatives 2014-2015" for
funding the "Miami Learning Zone Program" at Kinloch Park and Curtis Park for the grant period
commencing August 1st, 2014 through July 31 st, 2015.

Background Information:
The Department of Grants Administration, Education Initiatives has been awarded a one year renewal
grant from The Children's Trust in the amount of $86, 722.00 to provide after -school educational
services at Kinloch Park and Curtis Park. The program will service 100 children from August 2014 —
June 2015. The City is matching in -kind services in the amount of $10,795.00, corresponding to the
services provided to the program by the City's Education Initiative Coordinator as part of her regular
working hours. This resolution appropriates the grant and establishes a new special revenue project
for said purposes and further authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute professional
service agreements and all related amendments, documents, necessary extensions and modifications to
accept the award.
