Subject: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Memorandum of Agreement
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), authorizing the City Manager to
execute a Memorandum of Agreement, in substantially the attached form, to accept reimbursement
for pre -approved overtime costs and other expenses incurred by members of the City of Miami Police
Department's Special Investigations Section, assigned to assist the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives (ATF), effective until September 30, 2019; further authorizing the City
Manager to designate the Chief of Police to execute any other necessary documents in order to
implement the acceptance of said reimbursement of funds.

Memorandum of Agreement
The reimbursement of overtime costs and other expenses is contingent upon prior approval from
ATF, including but not limited to travel, fuel, equipment and training, incurred by the Miami Police
Department in providing resources to assist ATF in joint law enforcement operations.
ATF and the City of Miami Police Department's Special Investigations Section have collaborated with
investigating several high level cases. This agreement will allow detectives from the Special
Investigations Section's Narcotics Unit to be cross -designated to investigate federal firearms
violations, including but not limited to narcotics investigations involving violent felons who are
responsible for a large number of shootings within the City of Miami.
