WHEREAS, South Florida Workforce Investment Board d/b/a Career Source South Florida, a governmental agency and instrumentality of Miami -Dade and Monroe Counties ("SFWIB"), has previously provided funding to the City of Miami's ("City's") Career Center ("Center"), which provides an integrated menu of workforce and training services to job seekers including core/staff assisted services, intensive services to unemployed workers, and training services to eligible individuals with the goal of job placement; and WHEREAS, the Center also provides services to business clients and local companies such as conducting specialized recruitment events, listing job openings in the State's system, providing information on on-the-job and paid -work experience programs, assisting in downsizing situations, and matching job seekers to employers' needs; and WHEREAS, the Center must also provide support services such as transportation vouchers, clothing, credential validation, and work permits to eligible participants to eliminate barriers to employment and self-sufficiency; and City of Miami Page 1 of 3 File Id: 14-00494 (version: 2) Printed On: 6/23/2014 F0oNumber /4-00404 for the period commencing July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, with the options to renew for two (2) additional like periods at the aorne not -to -exceed amounts under the aonne hsnna and conditions for the Center, subject to budgetary approval at time of need. The City Manager isfurther authorized(1)<o allocate and appropriate funds in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00, from the existing Special Revenue Fund entitled "ACCESS Miami" to underwrite other expenses resulting from the operation of the Center not covered under the Grant.
