("HOPWA") PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $132,830 FROM CITY OF MIAMI,
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, LONG TERM TENANT
BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO THE AGENCIES, AS SPECIFIED IN EXHIBIT "A",
ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, TO PROVIDE HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND HOUSING
RELATED SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH AIDS; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT(S), FOR SAID PURPOSE(S)

Background Information:
The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS ("HOPWA") Program was created under the AIDS
Housing Opportunity Act and revised under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1992.
Pursuant to Resolution No. R-13-0485, adopted December 12, 2013, the Miami City Commission
approved the allocation of HOPWA funds which included the allocation of Long Term Tenant Based
Rental Assistance to the agencies.
On March 27, 2014 pursuant to Resolution No. R-14-0122 the Miami City Commission approved the
de -obligation of $348,230 from Miami Beach Community Development Corporation and the allocation
of $215,400 to Community Aids Resources, Inc and the amount of $132,830 to the City of Miami,
Department of Community and Economic Development, Long Term Tenant Based Rental Assistance
Program.
There are remaining additional clients from Miami Beach Community Development Corporation, and
new clients from the waiting list to be transferred to the other agencies.
The Administration recommends the allocation of $132,830 from the City of Miami, Department of
Community and Economic Development, Long Term Tenant Based Rental Assistance to the
agencies as specified in Exhibit "A", attached and incorporated, to provide housing assistance and
housing related services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
