A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ("DDA") OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA EXPRESSING THE DDA'S SUPPORT
FOR THE PROPOSED "SKYRISE MIAMI" PROJECT AT BAYSIDE
MARKETPLACE.
WHEREAS, Action Item 2.3 of the DDA's 2025 Downtown Miami Master Plan calls for the
creation of an "Iconic waterfront element at Flagler Street and Biscayne Bay" to "draw attention to
Downtown Miami's waterfront and create a vivid association between the landmark and the City of
Miami" (see Exhibit 1); and
WHEREAS, Berkowitz Development Group has proposed the development of an iconic
waterfront observation tower, named "SkyRise Miami," at what is currently the MiaMarina parking lot at
Bayside Marketplace; and
WHEREAS, Berkowitz Development Group presented its proposed plans to the Miami DDA
Board of Directors on January 17, 2014, as provided in Exhibit 2; and
WHEREAS, the project is set to include observation decks, multiple dining establishments, a
nightclub, event space, and other entertainment options, which combined should attract millions of
additional visitors to Downtown Miami; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds that the proposed "SkyRise Miami" project, as presented to the
Board, is consistent with and furthers the 2025 Downtown Miami Master Plan's call for an iconic
waterfront element along Biscayne Bay.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown
Development Authority of the City of Miami, Florida.
Section 1. The recitals are true and correct and are adopted by reference and incorporated as
if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The DDA expresses its support for the proposed "SkyRise ))Miami" project at
Bayside Marketplace.

attention to Downtown Miami's waterfront and create
a vivid association between the landmark and the
City of Miami.
• Utilize the landmark as a revenue -generator in order
to pay for its own construction, maintenance and
parks operation.

• Iconic elements can vary from a historic pier to a
monumental structure. Similar landmarks throughout
the world inspired the idea for an iconic element
for Miami. These world famous sites serve to unite
communities, attract visitors, and promote a greater
quality of life, which are all key objectives of this
Master Plan.
