HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-14-0218City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-14-0218 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-00427 Final Action Date: 6/12/2014 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING NO OBJECTION AND SUPPORTING THE CODESIGNATION BY THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE, PURSUANT TO SENATE BILL 820, DESIGNATING THAT PORTION WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI LIMITS OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 41/STATE ROAD 90/TAMIAMI TRAIL/SOUTHWEST 8TH STREET BETWEEN SOUTHWEST 37TH AVENUE AND PONCE DE LEON BOULEVARD, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "BETTY PINO WAY;" FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, DISTRICT SIX, FOR SIGN INSTALLATION WITHIN THE NEWLY DESIGNATED ROADWAY. WHEREAS, the 2014 Florida State Legislature, pursuant to Senate Bill 820 requested an honorary designation of a road located within the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission has no objection and supports the proposed street codesignation of United States Highway 41/State Road 90/Tamiami Trail/Southwest 8th Street between Southwest 37th Avenue and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Miami, Florida, as "Betty Pino Way"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the codesignation by the Florida Legislature, pursuant to Senate Bill 820, designating that portion within the City limits of United States Highway 41/State Road 90/Tamiami Trail/Southwest 8th Street between Southwest 37th Avenue and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Miami, Florida, as "Betty Pino Way." Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly codesignated roadways. Section 4.
