A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING AN EXEMPTION
FROM THE PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS CONTAINED IN SECTION
19-7(C)(2) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, AS
RELATED TO THE FIREWORKS BEING DISPLAYED (FIRED) AT THE WAYNE AND
ARLENE CHAPLIN EVENT AT BICENTENNIAL PARK, HELD BETWEEN 11:00 P.M.
AND 12:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY, MAY 24, 2014.
WHEREAS, Section 19-7(c)(2) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, ("City
Code") prohibits permits for fireworks between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M. Friday and
Saturday; and
WHEREAS, Section 19-7(c)(4) of the City Code provides that the City Commission may relax the
restrictions contained in Section 19-7(c)(2) or declare them inapplicable on special occasions; and
WHEREAS, the Wayne and Arlene Chaplin Event at Bicentennial Park is requesting to allow a
fireworks display to be fired between 11:00 P.M. and 12:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 24, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to relax the restrictions of Section 19-7(c)(2) pursuant to
Section 19-7(c)(4) and declare the restrictions inapplicable for the Wayne and Arlene Chaplin Event
at Bicentennial Park on Saturday, May 24, 2014;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. An exemption from the prohibitions and restrictions contained in Section 19-7(c)(2) of
the City Code related to the fireworks being displayed (fired) at the Wayne and Arlene Chaplin Event
at Bicentennial Park, on Saturday, May 24, 2014 between 11:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. is declared.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
