To accept funds, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000, from the Miami Foundation, Inc., for the gymnasium at
Gibson Park, Project No. B-30305B. This resolution further authorizes the City Manager to execute a Grant
Acceptance Agreement, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose.
Background Information:
The City of Miami will be constructing an indoor basketball gymnasium to be located at Gibson Park, 401
Northwest 12th Street, Miami, Florida ("Project"). The scope of work includes Men's and Women's Restrooms,
Cooking Kitchen including equipment, storage and Concession Area, Equipment Storage Area, Mechanical,
Electrical, Janitor Rooms, Ticketing Office ("Gymnasium Improvements") and associated amenities.
In response to the community's request for additional upgrades to the Gymnasium Improvements, the Miami
Foundation, Inc., ("Foundation") c/o The Play to Win Fund, a Florida non-profit corporation, has committed to
provide funding, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 ("Grants Funds"). The Grant Funds from the Foundation
shall be used solely for costs associated with the Gymnasium Improvements subject to certain stipulations, terms
and conditions and in accordance with the proposed project scope to be set forth in the Grant Acceptance
Agreement ("Agreement") between the City and the Foundation.
Grant Funds will serve as an equal match to the additional funding to be provided by the Southeast Overtown/Park
West Community Redevelopment Agency ("SEOPW CRA"), with the acceptance of the related SEOPW CRA
Grant occurring by separate resolution.
