Purpose of Item:
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2014-2015 COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 319,292, IN THE
PUBLIC SERVICE CATEGORY WHICH INCLUDE PRIOR YEAR PROGRAM INCOME, TO THE
AGENCIES SPECIFIED IN ATTACHMENT "A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, FOR PUBLIC
SERVICE ACTIVITIES BEGINNING APRIL 1, 2014; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENT FOR SAID PURPOSE.

Background Information:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") has yet to release the final
Community Planning and Development Program Formula Allocations for FY2014, as such, the
amount of CDBG funds being recommended is a projection.
Pursuant to Resolution No. R-13-0483, adopted December 12, 2013, the Miami City Commission
approved CDBG Program Year categories, allocating the projected amount of $646,649 and the
projected amount of $112,500 from previous years Program Income, for a total projected amount of
$759,149 in the Public Service category.
On February 27, 2014 pursuant to Resolution No. R-14-0057 The Miami City Commission approved
allocation of funds to public services agencies which include a reserve amount of $255,745.
On March 18th, 2014, HUD posted the allocation of CDBG funds for the City in the amount of
$4,734,641 resulting in additional $63,547 in public service for a total unallocated amount of
$319,292 in the public service category.
The Administration recommends the allocation for 2014-2015 Program Year CDBG funds, in the
amount of $319,292 in the Public Service category, to the agencies specified in Attachment "A",
attached and incorporated, for Public Service activities beginning April 1, 2014.
