HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 14-00186 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THREE (3) VACANT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY -OWNED PROPERTIES LOCATED AT 3749 OAK AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, 3604 PERCIVALAVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND 3755 FROW AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A," ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; CONVEYING THE SAME PROPERTIES WITH ALL ENCUMBRANCES AND CONDITIONS TO NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES OF SOUTH FLORIDA, INC. FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ELIGIBLE LOW AND MODERATE INCOME PERSONS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, there is a pressing need for decent, affordable housing in the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, the properties attached as Exhibit "A" are currently owned by Miami -Dade County ("County") as a result of tax deed escheatment; and WHEREAS, on February 19, 2014, the County Commission approved the conveyance of the above properties to the City; and WHEREAS, the City currently has a contract with Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc., to develop six (6) single family infill homes in the West Grove Neighborhood; and WHEREAS, Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc., has a proven track record working in housing development; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the acceptance of the properties located at 3749 Oak Avenue, Miami, Florida, 3604 Percival Avenue, Miami, Florida, and 3755 Frow Avenue, Miami, Florida, from the County and the conveyance of the properties to Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept three (3) County -owned vacant properties located at 3749 Oak Avenue, Miami, Florida, 3604 Percival Avenue, Miami, Florida, and 3755 Frow Avenue, Miami, Florida, as described in "Exhibit A," attached and incorporated, and to convey the same properties to Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc., for the City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 14-00186 (Version: 1) Printed On: 3/7/2014 File Number 14-00186 development of affordable housing for eligible low and moderate income persons. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: i VI TORIA MENDEZ CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: /t {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
