Background Information: The City of Miami owns the property located at 900 SW 1e` Street, Miami, Florida, commonly known as Manuel Artime Theater. The Chopin Foundation of the United States ("Foundation") is a 36-year old national non-profit organization that supports young American pianists and promotes classical music far audiences across South Florida. The Foundation has chosen to stage its 2015 edition of the National Chopin Piano Competition at the Manuel Artime Theater. The 2015 National Chopin Piano competition will bring hundreds of young pianists their families, teachers, and Chopin music lovers from all over the country to tho City of Miami, as well as respected jurors and honor guests from the United States and Europe. On March 1, 2014, the Foundation will present a special Gala Concert oelebrating Frederic Chopin's birthday at the Manuel Artime Theater and will feature internationally acclaimed musician in attendance would offer the best opportunity to announce the new name of the venue. The renaming of the facility would link the Chopin Piano Competition of the United State with the City of Miami, thus adding to the City's cultural reputation and placing the City of Miami among other internationally renowned places that areed for the permanent presence of quality classical music.
