A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED "EMS COUNTY
GRANT #C2013 AWARD FISCAL YEAR 2013-2014", IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $37,970.00, CONSISTING OF A GRANT APPORTIONED BY MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU
OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS") PROGRAM ENTITLED "FLORIDA
EMS GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE COUNTIES"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE GRANT LETTER OF
UNDERSTANDING/AGREEMENT PER PAYMENT FROM THE STATE, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY
RELATED GRANT DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND
ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, the State of Florida, Department of
Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS") is authorized to provide grant funds to
Boards of County Commissioners to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services;
and
WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County ("County") was awarded grant funds, in the amount of
$164,979.00, for said purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded grant funds, in the amount of
$37,970.00, from the County for the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 funding of the State of Florida
Department of Health, EMS Program entitled "Florida EMS Grant Program for the Counties", to be
apportioned and passed through the City's Department of Fire -Rescue for Fiscal Year 2013-2014 for
the improvement, expansion, and continuation of its pre -hospital EMS projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Department of Fire -Rescue's work plan includes the implementation of the
following projects: EMS Equipment; to provide materials; supplies and services; and computer
hardware, software, and supplies, which will enhance the service capabilities of the EMS System and
improve the level of service provided to the residents of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

FUND TITLE: EMS County Grant #C2013 Award Fiscal Year 2013-2014
RESOURCES: State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS
Program entitled "Florida EMS Grant Program for the
Counties" through Miami -Dade County
$37,970.00
APPROPRIATIONS: $37,970.00
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Grant Letter of
Understanding/Agreement per payment from the State, in substantially the attached form, and any
other necessary related grant documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to
implement the acceptance and administration of said grant.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
