Purpose of Item: To authorize an additional owner contingency allowance to ABC Construction, Inc., for the Coral Way Community Center-CDBG Project, B-30365E, for owner requested change orders to cover work that was not a part of the original scope which. exceeded the original 10% contingency,in an amountnot to exceed $60,000, thereby increasing the award value from $602,800, to a total not to exceed amount off$662,800; allocating funds for said increase from Special Revenue Project No. 91-02994. Background Information: Pursuant to Resolution No. 13-0185, adopted May 9, 2013, the City Commission authorized the execution of a Contract with ABC Construction, Inc., (ABC) for the Coral Way Community Center-CDBG Project, B-30365E (Project), in the amount of $548,000 for the scope of work, plus a 10 percent (10%) owner contingency amount of $54,800, for a total not to exceed award value of $602,800. An additional owner contingency allowance in the amount of $60,000 is necessary to cover owner requested change orders for work that was not a part of the original scope, which exceeded the original 10% contingency. The additional work consists of ceramic tile throughout facility, solid surface counter tops, demolition of retaining wall and bike racks.
