Proposed access restriction to NE
39th Street Alley
Location map
The Public Works Department has received a petition from the property owners adjacent to an "L"
shaped alley located east of Biscayne Boulevard between NE 39th Street and the Bay Point
subdivision to consider the installation of a fence and gates to restrict vehicular and pedestrian
access to the alley at its intersection with Biscayne Boulevard and NE 39th Street. This request was
made to facilitate the operation of a new development by providing security along the entire perimeter
of the development site. The alley is an unimproved, 14 foot wide alley and is not utilized by vehicular
or pedestrian traffic. As directed by City Code Section 54-16(h), this department is soliciting
comments and recommendations concerning this restriction of access from the Police, Fire -Rescue
and Solid Waste Departments for presentation to the City Commission at their December 12, 2013
meeting.
Please review this alley access restriction location and provide this department with your comments
and recommendations. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please call Mr. Leonard
Helmers, Professional Engineer IV, at 305-416-1221.
