Director, Public Works Department DATE: SUBJECT: REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: October 9, 2013 FILE : Proposed access restriction to NE 39th Street Alley Location map The Public Works Department has received a petition from the property owners adjacent to an "L" shaped alley located east of Biscayne Boulevard between NE 39th Street and the Bay Point subdivision to consider the installation of a fence and gates to restrict vehicular and pedestrian access to the alley at its intersection with Biscayne Boulevard and NE 39th Street. This request was made to facilitate the operation of a new development by providing security along the entire perimeter of the development site. The alley is an unimproved, 14 foot wide alley and is not utilized by vehicular or pedestrian traffic. As directed by City Code Section 54-16(h), this department is soliciting comments and recommendations concerning this restriction of access from the Police, Fire -Rescue and Solid Waste Departments for presentation to the City Commission at their December 12, 2013 meeting. Please review this alley access restriction location and provide this department with your comments and recommendations.
