Hannon From: City Clerk Date: April 15, 2013 Subject: Civil Service Board Reference: Agenda for May 9, 2013 Enclosures: List of members and Memo from Civil Service Board's Executive Secretary Subject to the approval of the City Commission, the Civil Service Board was created to adopt, amend and enforce a code of rules and regulations which shall have the force and effect of law, providing for appointment and employment in all positions in the classified service, based on merit, efficiency, character, and industry; and to make investigations concerning the enforcement and effect of this article and of the rules adopted; and shall make an annual report to the Commission. Based upon the attached memo by Tishria Mindingall, Executive Secretary, Civil Service Board, one (1) appointment is required at this time: • Commission At -Large has one (1) nomination for a seat currently: 1. Vacant. (Note: Christine Gomez resigned effective April 1, 2013*) *Ms. Gomez was serving as an elected member of the Civil Service Board. Pursuant to Miami City Code Sec. 36(a), "[a]ny vacancy shall be filled by the City Commission for the unexpired term." Ms. Gomez's term will expired on April 26, 2014. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the May 9, 2013, Commission agenda.
