City Manage Page 1 of 1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information: The HOPWA Program was created under the AIDS Housing Opportunity Act and revised under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1992. Since 1994 the City of Miami ("City") has received HOPWA Program funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (" HUD") and has been responsible for the implementation of programs designed to provide housing and related services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the City and throughout Miami -Dade County. The Administration recommends the allocation for Program Year 2014-2015 HOPWA Funds, in the projected amount of $11,381,465 and $1,000,000 from Previous Years HOPWA funding, for a total allocation of $12,381,465, as specified in Attachment "A", attached and incorporated, to provide housing assistance and housing related services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
