Honorable Commissioners and Mayor Regalado:
Please be advised that I, Father Jose Luis Menendez, pastor of Corpus Christi Catholic Church,
which includes the Edgewater neighborhood, and pastor of the Mission of San Francisco and
Santa Clara located on 402 NE 29 Street between Biscayne Blvd and the Bay, write this letter in
support of the Vacation and Closure of the NE 27 Terrace right of way from Biscayne Boulevard
to the bay and the petition brought forth by the members of the 27 STREET HOMEOWNERS
ASSOCIATION, Inc.
This alley has always been a source of trouble for the neighborhood and the worst impacts have
been felt by the owners on the two adjacent streets. This is a unique situation for us since this is
the only alley in the residential neighborhood east of Biscayne Boulevard.
The alley has been a place where people get into all sorts of trouble, do all sorts of things and no
one can see them.
By this letter we support the closing of the alley so that we can prevent this from happening in
the future. When the new park is built along the water we want to feel safe walking there. We
don't want to have to worry about what may be lurking between the walls of the alley where no
one is watching.
We hope that you approve the closure of the alley today.

I represent ACU Holdings, Inc., the owner of properties at 720 N.E. 27th Street
and 717 N.E. 271h Street, Miami, FL 33137. My client has owned these properties for more than
ten years.
This is to advise you that my client is in favor of, and supports the effort to vacate
and close the N.E. 27th Terrace right of way from Biscayne Boulevard to Biscayne Bay pursuant
to the petition brought by the members of the 27 Street Homeowners Association, Inc.
The alley's presence has contributed substantially to the deterioration of the
neighborhood. It has been a magnet for garbage, drug use, prostitution, and criminal activity.
