A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $238,000.00, CONSISTING OF A GRANTAWARDED FROM
THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS"), ENTITLED: "EMS MATCHING GRANT
AWARD-M2035-FISCAL YEAR 2012", WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY'S")
REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED, $79,333.00,
FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $317,333.00, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING JUNE 14,
2013 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2014; ALLOCATING THE CITY'S MATCHING FUNDS
FROM CAPITAL ACCOUNT NO. 32000.181000.896000.0000.00000; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITYATTORNEY,
IN ORDER TO ACCEPT, IMPLEMENTAND COMPLY WITH SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $238,000.00
from the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS"), to
provide grant funds to local agencies to improve and expand pre -hospital emergency medical services;
and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the City, in the amount of $79,333.00, are required as a
condition of said grant, and are available from Capital Account No. 32000.181000.896000.0000.00000,
and
WHEREAS, the City Department of Fire -Rescue proposes to improve and expand EMS by
purchasing 10 cardiac monitors, accessories, and related items; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to accept said
grant, to execute any necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to
accept, implement and comply with said grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Grant funds, in the amount of $238,000.00, consisting of a grant awarded by the State
of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS, are accepted, with required matching funds from the
City, in an amount not to exceed $79,333.00, for a total amount of $317,333.00 for the period
beginning June 14, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
Section 3. The City's required matching funds, in an amount not to exceed $79.333.00 are
allocated from Capital Improvement Account No. 32000.181000.896000.0000.00000.

Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to accept said grant award and to execute the
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to accept, implement and
comply with said grant.
Section 5. This grant will be appropriated by separate Resolution.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor. {2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
