A Resolution accepting a Quit Claim Deed from the Florida Department of Transportation
("Department") for the transfer of SE 1 Avenue between SE 5 Street and SE 6 Street from the
Department to the City of Miami street system.
Backgr
u d Information:
The reconstruction and realignment of the South Miami Avenue bridge in the 1980's restricted access
to properties along SE/SW 5 Street and the Miami River. To mitigate the impact of the bridge
realignment, the City urged the Department to create a new connection between SE 5 & 6 Streets. In
response, the Department acquired a parcel of land aligning with the street grid pattern of SE 1
Avenue and Miami -Dade County constructed a two lane roadway upon that land between SE 5 & 6
Streets. Although the City has been maintaining the roadway since 1988, title for the land remained in
the name of the Department. The Department desires to formally transfer this portion of SE 1 Avenue
to the City. The City shall continue to maintain this portion of SE 1 Avenue.
