Background Information: In April 2006, the Miami City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 12787 creating a Living Wage Ordinance allowed the City to phase -in the payment of a living wage to employees over a three-year period. In October 2009, the City Commission amended the ordinance to expand the time frame two additional years. The administration is now respectfully requesting that the time frame be expanded an additional four years to achieve full implementation in FY 2014-15. This amendment will only affect the payment of a living wage to employees and will not affect the contracts portion of the Living Wage ordinance.
