HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00927 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH EB JACOBS, LLC, THE HIGHEST- RANKED FIRM, PURSUANT TO REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS NO. 316283, TO PROVIDE AND ADMINISTER THE PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION PROCESSES FOR THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF CHIEF FIRE OFFICER, CAPTAIN AND LIEUTENANT, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, FORA PERIOD OF FOUR (4) YEARS, WITH OPTIONS TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL TWO (2) YEAR PERIODS; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE VARIOUS SOURCES OF FUNDS OF THE USER DEPARTMENT, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS AND BUDGETARY APPROVAL AT THE TIME OF NEED. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") conducted a competitive selection process, and issued Request for Proposals ("RFP") No. 316283, to secure a firm to provide and administer the promotional examination processes for the classifications of Chief Fire Officer, Captain and Lieutenant; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 12-0285, adopted July 26, 2012, the City Commission accepted the recommendation of the City Manager to approve the findings of the Evaluation Committee, and further authorized the City Manager to enter into contract negotiations with the highest -ranked firm, EB Jacobs, LLC, to provide and administer the promotional examination processes for the classifications of Chief Fire Officer, Captain, and Lieutenant; and WHEREAS, the Department of Human Resources has negotiated a Professional Services Agreement ("Agreement") with EB Jacobs, LLC, setting forth the terms and conditions for the services to be provided; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resoâ–ºution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City. Manager is authorized {1} to execute an Agreement, in substantially the attached form, with EB Jacobs, LLC, the highest -ranked firm, pursuant to RFP No. 316283, to provide and administer the promotional examination processes for the classifications of Chief Fire Officer, Captain, and Lieutenant, for a period of four (4) years, with the option to renew for two (2) additional two (2) year periods, with funds allocated from the various sources of funds of the user department, subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval at the time of need. Section 3. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
