HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-13-0322City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-13-0322 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00922 Final Action Date: 9/12/2013 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT RESERVE ACCOUNT FUNDS IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1,500,000 TO THE CITY OF MIAMI FIRE -RESCUE DEPARTMENT FOR FIRE FIGHTING AND LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, under Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") program guidelines, the City of Miami ("City") cannot have more than one and half times the current year's CDBG allocations; and WHEREAS, the City currently has unallocated CDBG funds in excess of $3 million; and WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue is in need of funds for purchasing fire fighting and life-saving equipment for use in low and moderate income areas of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the transfer of CDBG Reserve Account funds in the amount of $1,500,000 to the City's Department of Fire -Rescue for fire fighting and life-saving equipment for use in low and moderate income areas of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of City Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG Reserve Account funds in the amount of $1,500,000 to the City's Department of Fire -Rescue for fire fighting and life saving equipment, is authorized. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} Footnotes: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 13-00922 (Version: 1) Printed On: 9/14/2017 File Number: 13-00922 Enactment Number: R-13-0322 {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
