As it stands, some Wynwood high rolling investors have co-opted many of the businesses in Edgewater, to
pay for improvements in Wynwood. The"Wynwood BID", is the means by which this is being
accomplished. Our businesses in Edgewater, provide the City of Miami, with many important goods and
services, which translate into real jobs. We are already, taxed at an extremely high rate, and vulnerable to
increased taxes and special assessments.
In truth, what is being proposed is the order for us to finance the northwest second avenue Wynwood arts
district. And haven't we financed enough, with little or no investment to our area. The tunnel, the Arts
center, the Marlins Baseball Stadium, and a 20 million dollar parking lot, just to name a few.
Truthfully, how will making us pay for an Art Curator benefit most businesses? With almost all of the
galleries in Wynwood, we all know Wynwood investors would benefit much more. This is not fair, an
injustice, and we would kindly ask you, the commissioners, to do the smart, right thing, and exempt those
of us east of North Miami Avenue.
The Commissioners must ask yourselves if this is a good investment for our city's infrastructure? The City
of Miami is now on a course to expand greatly, and the dismantling of a very large industrial area, right
when it is needed, would not be the best support of our City. Realistically, by driving the costs up, we will
drive the artist out. This is not a good investment, but is a possible boondoggle. As a property owner in
Edgewater, or owning property in the vicinity of North East Miami Avenue, I decline to be a part of the
Wynwood BID, and petition for a new vote.
Below are some of the affected owners who agree with the above and request a major reconsideration.
