Background Information:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided federal financial assistance
to DEP in 2011. DEP awarded the City with grant funding as a sub -recipient through its Coastal Zone
Management program. This grant funding will support removal and disposal of the invasive exotic
plants on the spoil island located at Marine Stadium Marina. Funding will also support information
signage that will be posted on the island, to educate the public on the danger of non-native invasive
species. The island has a dense population of native species, making it unnecessary to replant
natives after removal is complete.
