Purpose of Item:
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT SEVEN TO THE FISCAL YEAR
2005 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") DISASTER RELIEF INITIATIVE
ROUND I CONTRACT BETWEEN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, EXTENDING THE CONTRACT FROM JULY 31, 2012
TO JUNE 30, 2013, FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING ADDITIONAL TIME TO COMPLETE THE
PROJECTS THAT SUFFERED HURRICANE DAMAGE.

Background Information:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 07-0131, adopted March 8, 2007, the Miami City Commission gave the
City Manager the authority to accept a CDBG grant award in the amount of $2,000,000 from the
County, for the City of Miami's ("City") Disaster Recovery Program.
Said funds was to be utilized to provide rehabilitation assistance to multi -family properties that were .
damaged due to the hurricane.
On September 11, 2007, the Fiscal Year ("FY") 2005 CDBG Disaster Relief Initiative ("DRI") contract
between the City and the County was executed for the purposed of providing CDBG funds for the
rehabilitation of multi -family properties with an expiration date of June 30, 2008.
Pursuant to Resolution Nos. 09-0216, 10-0086, 10-0537, 12-0165, 12-0254, adopted May 14, 2009,
February 25, 2010, December 16, 2010, April 12, 2012 and July 12, 2012, respectively, the Miami
City Commission authorized various amendments extending the contract date of the FY 2005 CDBG
DRI contract.
The County has provided an extension to the FY 2005 CDBG DRI contract to June 30, 2013 for the
purpose of obtaining additional time to complete all funded projects.
The City Administration recommends the approval of an extension to the FY 2005 CDBG DRI
contract between the County and the. City for the City's Disaster Recovery Program from July 31,
2012 to June 30, 2013 for the rehabilitation of the projects, further authorizing the City Manager to
execute Amendment Seven to the FY 2005 CDBG DRI contract for the extension of the contract, in
substantially the attached form.
To date 248 units of housing have been assisted through the City's Disaster Recovery Program.
