Subject: Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with JVA Engineering Contractor, Inc. for

Purpose of Item:
To accept the bid and authorize execution of a construction contract with JVA Engineering Contractor, Inc., the lowest
responsive and responsible bidder, pursuant to Invitation to Bid No. 12-13-032 received May 13, 2013, for the Silver
Bluff Drainage Improvements (Area IA-1) Project, B-30776, in the amount of $557,677.55, for the scope of work, plus a
ten percent (10%) owner contingency amount of $55,767.75, for a total not to exceed award value of $613,445.30. Funds
are to be allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. B-30776.
Background Information:
The Capital Improvements Program (CIP) issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) No. 12-13-032 for construction services for the
Silver Bluff Drainage Improvements (Area 1A-1) Project (Project). Eight (8) bids were received by the Office of the City
Clerk on May 13, 2013. CIP has determined JVA Engineering Contractor, Inc. (JVA) to be the lowest responsive and
responsible bidder.
The City Manager requests authorization to execute a contract with JVA, in the amount of $557,677.55, for the scope of
work, plus a ten percent (10%) owner contingency amount of $55,767.75, for a total not to exceed award value of
$613,445.30. Funds in the amount of $613,445.30 are to be allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. B-30776.
