A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING THE FOURTH
WEEKEND OF EACH JANUARY AS "THE LINCOLN-MARTI BOY AND GIRL
SCOUTS CAMPOREE WEEKEND" AT THE CARLOS ARBOLEYA CAMPING AND
PICNIC GROUNDS, LOCATED AT ROBERT KING HIGH PARK, 7025 WEST
FLAGLER STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; FURTHER DECLARING THAT EACH FIRST
JANUARY CITY COMMISSION MEETING WILL COMMENCE WITH A BRIEF
OBSERVANCE OF "THE LINCOLN-MARTI BOY AND GIRL SCOUTS CAMPOREE
WEEKEND".
WHEREAS, the Lincoln -Marti Boy and Girl Scouts Camporee weekend at the CarlosArboleya
Camping and Picnic Grounds, located at Robert King High Park, 7025 West Flagler Street, Miami,
Florida ("Camporee"), has been held on an annual basis since 1971; and
WHEREAS, approximately 2,000 boy and girl scouts are in attendance every year, with the highest
attendance at 4,500 participants; and
WHEREAS, many local troops as well as troops from Guatemala, Salvador, Chile, Colombia, and
Argentina are in attendance every year; and
WHEREAS, the Camporee has received local and national media recognition; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to raise awareness of this annual event and its
long standing tradition;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Miami City Commission declares the fourth weekend of each January as "The
Lincoln -Marti Boy and Girl Scouts Camporee Weekend" in the City of Miami, Florida.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission further declares that each first January City Commission
meeting will commence with a brief observance of "The Lincoln -Marti Boy and Girl Scouts Camporee
Weekend".
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10)
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
