HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00579 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION URGING GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT, MEMBERS OF THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE AND MEMBERS OF THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY COMMISSION TO DESIGNATE THE INTERSECTION OF NORTHWEST 42ND AVENUE (LE JEUNE ROAD) AND NORTHWEST 7TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS "OCEAN BANK CORNER"; FURTHER APPROVING THE DESIGNATION OF THE INTERSECTION BY THE CITY OF MIAMI; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, Ocean Bank, with headquarters at 780 Northwest 42nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, is a well established financial institution that provides vital services to the City of Miami ("City"), Miami Dade County ("County") and its residents; and WHEREAS, Ocean Bank celebrated its 30th anniversary in December, 2012; and WHEREAS, the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, in Section 54-136, provides for the intersection of two streets to be designated; and WHEREAS, the two streets where Ocean Bank is located are the northwest corner of Le Jeune Road and Northwest 7th Street, Miami, Florida, which are County and State Roads, respectively; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission urges Governor Scott, Members of the Florida Legislature and Members of the Miami -Dade County Commission to designate the intersection of Northwest 42nd Avenue (Le Jeune Road) and Northwest 7th Street, Miami, Florida, as "Ocean Bank Corner". Section 3. The designation of the intersection by the City, is approved. Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Governor Rick Scott, Senate President Don Gaetz, the Speaker of the House Will Weatherford, the Chair and Members of the Miami -Dade State Legislative Delegation, Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation Ananth Prasad, Mayor Carlos Gimenez and the Members of the Miami -Dade County Commission. Section 5. BRU CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
