HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00328 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING REIMBURSEMENT GRANT ("GRANT") FUNDS FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY ("COUNTY") BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000, FOR THE WEST END PARK NEW COMMUNITY BUILDING PROJECT, ("PROJECT"); AUTHORIZING THE REQUIRED CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") FUNDING MATCH TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,098,521 FROM THE CITY'S HOMELAND DEFENSE/NEIGHBORHOOD CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM BONDS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY FOR THE GRANT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has received an award for a reimbursement grant from the Miami -Dade County ("County") Building Better Communities General Obligation Bonds ("GOB") for the West End Park New Community Building Project, County Project Number 220.4-76875 and City Project B-30690 ("Project"), in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000 ("Grant"); and WHEREAS, the Project scope of work consists of the demolition of the existing community center, design and construction of a new community building which will include multipurpose rooms, a fitness room, an art and craft room, a computer room, a break room and restrooms; and WHEREAS, the scope of work also includes the Americans Disabilities Act renovations to the existing pool restrooms and construction of a permanent shelter for the outdoor ball fields; and WHEREAS, the Interlocal Agreement with the County for the Grant requires the City to fund a match in the amount of funding necessary to complete the Project, which is not to exceed $1,098,521; and WHEREAS, this resolution accepts GOB reimbursement grant funding, in the amount of $1,500,000, authorizes the City's required match in an amount not to exceed $1,098,521, to be funded from the City's Homeland Defense/Neighborhood Capital Improvements Program Bonds and seeks authorization for the City Manager to execute the attached Interlocal Agreement for the Grant, for said purpose; and WHEREAS, grant funds and the City's match funds are to be appropriated by separate City Commission resolution for the City's Capital Improvements Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Section 2. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000, consisting of a reimbursement grant from the County from its GOB, for the Project, are accepted. Section 3. The City's required funding match to complete the Project is authorized, in an amount not to exceed $1,098,521, from the City's Homeland Defense/Neighborhood Capital Improvements Program Bonds. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute an Interlocal Agreement, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: JULIE O. Bf i CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
