HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-13-0133City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-13-0133 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00225a Final Action Date: 3/28/2013 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO APPROVE THE REQUEST BY THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HIRE FIFTY (50) CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND TO CONSIDER THE MARCH 12, 2013 MEMORANDUM BY CHIEF OF POLICE MANUEL OROSA, ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED, REGARDING STAFFING LEVELS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AS EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami City Commission urges the Department of Justice to approve the request by the City of Miami Police Department to hire fifty (50) certified law enforcement officers and to consider the March 12, 2013 memorandum by Chief of Police Manuel Orosa, attached and incorporated, regarding staffing levels that need to be addressed as expeditiously as possible. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. { 1 } Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution; it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
