District Impacted: 1, 2, 3, and 5 Type: ® Resolution n Ordinance ❑ Emergency Ordinance ❑ Discussion Item ❑ Other Law Department Matter ID No. Subject: Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Grant Application for the Seybold Canal Dredging Project Purpose of Item: A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachments, authorizing the City Manager to submit an application for grant funding to the Florida Inland Navigation District ("FIND") Waterways Assistance Program, in substantially the attached form, in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for the Seybold Canal Dredging project ("Project"); further authorizing the City Manager to execute any other necessary documents for the submission of said .grant application, the execution of grant of deed agreements and amendments, and the acceptance of grant funds in the event of the award of the grant for fiscal year 2013 — 2014. Background Information: The Office of Grants Administration is seeking City Commission authorization to apply for $1,000,000 in grant funding from the Florida Inland Navigation District which represents 50% of the total estimated $2,000,000 project cost for this phase of the Seybold Canal Dredging Project which consist of the dredging and disposal of hazardous sediments at the base of the canal from NW 11th Street to where it connects with the Miami River, within the vicinity of NW 7th Avenue and 5th Street. The project will be financed through a private public partnership. The item includes language by Rule 66B-2, Florida Administrative Code, for grant submittal to the Waterways Assistance Program.
