Purpose of Item: Law Department Matter ID No. Requesting Department: CEP To authorize the City Manager to execute a Joint Participation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for the State of Florida's contribution, in the amount of $350,000 for operating costs associated with the Overtown/Allapattah Trolley service. Matching funds in the amount of $350,000 are to be allocated from the City's share of the Transit Surtax. Background Information: In an effort to reduce vehicular congestion, improve pedestrian mobility, and enhance transit service in the Overtown/Allapattah area, the City proposed the Overtown/Allapattah Route. The loop runs from Northwest 27th Avenue to the Adrienne Arsht Metromover Station along Northwest 20`h Street and North 14th Street. The Overtown/Allapattah Route connects to the City's existing trolley routes. The Florida Department of Transportation has programmed $350,000 of State of Florida funds for operating costs associated with the Overtown/Allapattah Trolley service. The City is required to provide an equivalent match and enter into a Joint Participation Agreement for said purpose. Matching funds are available from the City's share of the Transit Surtax.
