A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A JOINT PARTICIPATION
AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, ACCEPTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA'S
CONTRIBUTION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $350,000, FOR OPERATING COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE OVERTOWN/ALLAPATTAH TROLLEY SERVICE;
AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI'S ("CITY'S") REQUIRED
MATCHING FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $350,000, FROM THE CITY'S SHARE OF
THE TRANSIT SURTAX.
WHEREAS, in an effort to reduce vehicular congestion, improve pedestrian mobility, and enhance
transit service in the Overtown/Allapattah area, the City of Miami ("City") proposed the
Overtown/Allapattah Route; and
WHEREAS, the loop runs from Northwest 27th Avenue to the Adrienne Arsht Metromover Station
along Northwest 20th Street and North 14th Street, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Overtown/Allapattah Route connects to the City's existing trolley routes; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has programmed $350,000 of
State of Florida funds for operating costs associated with the Overtown/Allapattah Trolley service; and
WHEREAS, the City is required to provide an equivalent match and enter into a Joint Participation
Agreement ("JPA") for said purpose; and
WHEREAS, matching funds, in the amount of $350,000 are to be allocated from the City's share
of the Transit Surtax;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a JPA with FDOT, in substantially the
attached form, accepting the State of Florida's contribution, in the amount of $350,000, for the
operating costs associated with the Overtown/Allapattah Trolley service.
Section 3. The City's required matching funds, in the amount of $350,000, are authorized to be
allocated from the City's share of the Transit Surtax.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of

the Mayor. {2}
Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
