HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13-00268 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ("CDBG") FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $348,640 FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITYAND ECONOMIC QEVELOPMENT CDBG RESERVE ACCOUNT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE CITY'S FIRE STATION NO. 5, LOCATED AT 1200 NORTHWEST 20TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 13-0001, adopted January 10, 2013, the Miami City Commission approved the transfer of Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") close out funds in the total amount of $438,640.30; specifically $348,640.30 to the City of Miami ("City's) Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG Reserve account for future Citywide eligible activities; and WHEREAS, the City's Capital Improvements Program ("CIP") is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of all construction related capital projects in the City, and for the financial management of all capital funds; and WHEREAS, the City's Fire Station No. 5, located at 1200 Northwest 20th Street, Miami, Florida, is currently in disrepair and in need of rehabilitation; and WHEREAS, said Fire Station No. 5 serves a portion of Allapattah having approximately 73% Low -Income residents; and WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends the allocation of CDBG funds in the amount of $348,640 from the Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG Reserve Account to CIP for the rehabilitation of Fire Station No. 5;. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The transfer of CDBG funds, in the amount of $348,640, from the City's Department of Community and Economic Development CDBG Reserve Account to CIP, is authorized, for the rehabilitation of the City's Fire Station No. 5, located at 1200 Northwest 20th Street, Miami, Florida. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1 } to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: CITY ATTORNEY Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
