Subject: Ordinance Amending City Code, Chapter 53, establishing a ticket surcharge for sightseeing
boat tours at Miamarina at Bayside.
Purpose of Item:
An Ordinance of the Miami City Commission amending Chapter 53/Article. I of the Code of the City of
Miami, Florida, as amended, entitled "Stadiums and Convention Centers/In General," more
particularly by amending Section 53-1. to include City -owned marinas as City facilities for purposes of
requiring a ticket surcharge on paid admissions to sightseeing boat tours; containing a severability
clause and providing for an effective date.
Background Information:.
The Department of Public Facilities .recommends establishing a ticket surcharge for admissions to
sightseeing boat tours at Miamarina at Bayside, with the potential to generate a minimum of $1
Million in recurring revenues for the . City. The Department further recommends that a fulltime
Assistant Marinas Manager position be created to properly monitor and collect such revenue. This
item passed on first reading at the February 14, 2013 Commission meeting.
