The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board, a Fourteen (14) member board was created to review
and recommend to the City Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's
affirmative action plan. The board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and
makes recommendations to the Department of Employee Relations.
Ten (10) appointments are required at this time:
• Chairman Francis Suarez has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Edilfa Perez, incumbent, whose term expired on September 15, 2012.
2. Aurelus Dorvil, incumbent, whose term expired on October 13, 2012. 1.
• Vice Chairman Marc Sarnoff has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant.*
• Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort has two (2) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Miriam Urra, incumbent, whose term expires on March 8, 2013, has exceeded the number
of allowed absences (6 in 2012), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of absences, and has
served as a member since February 8, 2001, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous
(5/5) vote of the Commission.
2. Jordana Zarut, incumbent, whose term expires on January 12, 2013, has exceeded the
number of allowed absences (5 in 2012), and would require a 4/5ths waiver of absences. **
• Commissioner Frank Carollo has two (2) nominations for seats currently:"

member since April 26, 2001, and will require a term waiver by a unanimous (5/5) vote of
the Commission.**
• AFSCME Local 1907 has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:
1. Amarilys Perez, incumbent, whose term expired on October 13, 2012. §§
• IAFF has one (1) nomination for a seat currently held by:***
1. Louis Marshall III, incumbent, whose term expired on May 13, 2011, has exceeded the
number of allowed absences (5 in 2012 and 4 in 2010), and would require a 4/5ths waiver
of attendance.
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this
memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the December 13, 2012,
Commission agenda.
