A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-82 (A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, CLASSIFYING SIXTY (60) BUNKER GEAR SETS,
EIGHTY-ONE (81) HELMETS, FIFTY-EIGHT (58) PAIRS OF BOOTS AND
MISCELLANEOUS AMKUS EXTRACTION TOOLS, WITH NO APPRECIABLE
RESALE VALUE, AS "CATEGORY A" SURPLUS STOCK; APPROVING SAID ITEMS
TO BE DONATED TO BARTOW MEDICAL AND FIRE ACADEMY ("BARTOW"),
WHO AGREES TO ACCEPT SAID DONATION AND BECOME THE SOLE
PROPERTY OWNER, WITH SAID DATED PROPERTY BEENING DEEMED
BEYOND VIABLE USE FOR CITY OF MIAMI PURPOSES AND ITS DONATION TO
BARTOW GREATLY AIDING THEIR PROGRAM FOR THE TRAINING AND
CERTIFICATION OF STUDENTS WORKING TOWARDS BECOMING VOLUNTEER
FIREFIGHTERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City's") Department of Fire Rescue has sixty (60) bunker gear
sets, eighty-one (81) helmets, fifty-eight (58) pairs of boots and miscellaneous Amkus extraction tools;
and
WHEREAS, the Chief Procurement Officer has declared the bunker gear, helmets, boots and
miscellaneous Amkus extraction tools as surplus; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-82 (a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), a. surplus declared as Category "A".stock shall be available for disposition as
the City's contribution or the City's commitment in support of a particular public purpose, which may
include community, civic or social service programs as may be authorized by the City Commission;
and
WHEREAS, Bartow Medical and Fire Academy ("Bartow") has agreed to accept the donation of
sixty (60) bunker gear sets, eighty-one (81) helmets, fifty-eight (58) pairs of boots and miscellaneous
Amkus extraction tools in which Bartow will become the sole property owner; and
WHEREAS, said dated property has been deemed beyond viable use for City purposes;
however, its donation to Bartow will greatly aid their program with the training and certification of
students working towards becoming volunteer firefighters;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA"
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in, this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82 (a) of the City Code, sixty (60) bunker gear sets,
eighty-one (81) helmets, fifty-eight (58) pairs of boots and miscellaneous Amkus extraction tools, with

no appreciable resale value, are classified as Category "A" surplus stock and the donation of said
items to Bartow, who agrees to accept said donation and become the sole property owner, is
approved, as stated herein.
Section 3 This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor. {1)

Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
