A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED " NEA GRANT -OUR
TOWN 2012-2013" ("PROJECT"), IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000, CONSISTING OF
A GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT OF THE ARTS; AUTHORIZING
THE ALLOCATION OF THE REQUIRED MATCHING OF NON-FEDERAL FUNDS
AND IN -KIND SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000, FOR A
TOTAL PROJECT COST NOT TO EXCEED $100,000; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE ACCEPTANCE,
IMPLEMENTATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT, THE EXECUTION
OF THE GRANT BASED ON THE AWARD LETTER AND GENERAL TERMS AND
CONDITIONS ATTACHED, AND THE ACCEPTANCE AND APPROPRIATION OF
SAID MATCHING FUNDS, SUBJECT ONLY TO BUDGETARY APPROVAL.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant from The National Endowment
for the Arts ("NEA") in an amount of $50,000 ("NEA Grant"), for the expansion of visual and performing
arts programming at the Little Haiti Cultural Center ("LHCC"); and
WHEREAS, the goal of the NEA Grant award is to fund activities that include the free monthly
musical event programming called "Big Night in Little Haiti", present an annual day of free arts
performances and art exhibitions featuring resident visual and performing artists, youth and family
dance and visual arts programming, and a nine -month pilot program to establish a Haitian artisan craft
studio at the LHCC; and
WHEREAS, a new Special Revenue project will be established entitled "NEA Grant -Our Town
2012-13" ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the NEA Grant of $50,000 is to be matched one-to-one from non-federal funds
and in -kind services in an amount not to exceed $50,000, for a total project cost not to exceed
$100,000; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Facilities will allocate the matching funds of $50,000, of
the total cost of the Project to be obtained from future sources of non-federal funds and in -kind
services; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Public Facilities are requesting the
appropriation of said NEA Grant funds and the matching funds for the Project subject only to
budgetary approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted
by reference incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute any and all necessary documents, in
a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for the acceptance, implementation and administration of said
grant, the execution of the grant based on the award letter and general terms and conditions attached,
and the acceptance and appropriation of matching funds, subject only to budgetary approval.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subjected to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
