Patrice:
Can you please respond to me. It is my understanding that they have never used Arthur Lamb Rd at Virginia Key Beach.
This is a new request. Triathlons have been held at Marine Stadium, Miami Rowing Club, and Crandon (County). MDC
Public Works will not authorise permits for the use of causeway due to the Bear Cut Bridge.
Thanks

Please see below. What is Arthur Lamb Jr. Road ? I assume that the problems are related to the problems
with Bear Cut Bridge. Keep in mind that they are saying that they will clear the roadway by 8:30 AM long
before the traffic jams of residents going to the Beach. Please advice.

Subject: Save Our Triathlons!
Dear Mayor and Commissioners,
1
Ir_m a 1,pting resident of the City of Miami and also a triathlete. I have enjoyed having many triathlons in
our great city over the years. It has come to my attention that the City of Miami is denying a permit to
Multirace com to host its triathlons on1/trginia =Key statingAthat the' ycannot use Arthur Lam bJr Road.
because Arthur,Lamb itis nat fin' optlori .because, This is the summer beach,_peak hours. This does not make
sense to me as the triathlons have the.roadway cleared by8 30a m ;and the job of the Parks and
Recreation Department is to provide us residents with these types of recreation options. We are certainly
not asking for anything new either as the Huntington's Disease Triathlon has used Arthur Lamb Jr. Road
for its triathlon the first week of August for the last 21 years in a row. Some of Multirace's five triathlons
have also used Arthur Lamb Jr. Road annually in the past with no problems, including in 2008, the last
time the Bear Cut Bridge was being repaired.
As your constituent, I am asking you to see to it that Multirace.com is granted the permits to hold these
events in our fine City. It would be a shame to lose such prestigious events!
Sincerely,
REBECCA ROTOLANTE
