We were introduced to the Marine Stadium several years ago by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. We have had the opportunity to see the Stadium firsthand and we believe that it would be an excellent project for us. Tourism Cares is a not for profit organization supported by the travel industry with a mission to preserve the travel experience for future generations. We seek to promote historic preservation as it is important for people to have interesting sites to visit during their travels. One of our key programs is a volunteer give back weekend when 300-400 travel agents and tour operators and other travel and tourism companies from around the United States visit a significant historic site a nd help with clean up and restoration efforts. This initiative has several benefits. First, the work done by the volunteers can be substantial, thereby reducing the cost of the restoration. Second, by bringing in people from the travel industry from all over the country to do this work, it provides terrific visibility to the site -and to the surrounding communities. We believe that due to the unique nature of the Marine Stadium, it would be an excellent candidate for this effort. Please keep us apprised of your progress as we would need at least one year of pre -planning to schedule a volunteer weekend. Also, we would need to work with your contractor to make sure that we have a scope of work that is meaningful to our volunteers. The restoration of the Miami Marine Stadium is a wonderful, high profile project that we know will generate tourism for Miami and the environs. We look forward to partnering with you to that end.
