Purpose of Item: To accept funds and authorize the City Manager to execute a Local Agency Program (LAP) Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure: Frederick Douglas & Paul Lawrence Project, allowing for the utilization of the $185,180 FDOT contribution. This Project is being designed as part of the Overtown Greenway Project, B-30624. Background Information: The City applied for and was awarded a federal grant in the amount of $185,180 from FDOT for the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure: Frederick Douglas & Paul Lawrence Project (Project). The scope of work consists of the conversion of NW 1 lth Terrace into a one- way street, which will allow for the construction of a bicycle path for students to use as a safe route to school. The Project also includes the repair and construction of new sidewalks as needed, and the construction of a corridor from NW 6th Avenue to NW 7th Avenue along NW 1 lth Terrace, thus creating a rapid and safer route for students to reach their school. This Resolution accepts the $185,180 in FDOT funding, and seeks authorization for the City Manager to execute the attached LAP Agreement, necessary in order to accept and administer the funds.
