A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION SUPPORTING ULTRA MUSIC
FESTIVAL'S REQUEST TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
("FDOT") TO CLOSE THE NORTH BOUND LANES OF BISCAYNE BOULEVARD
FROM THE CHOPIN PLAZA TO NORTHEAST 6TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA,
FORA TWO -WEEKEND EVENT ON MARCH 15, 2013 THROUGH MARCH 17,
2013 AND MARCH 22, 2013 THROUGH MARCH 24, 2013, SUBJECT CERTAIN
CONDITIONS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO FDOT.
WHEREAS, Event Entertainment Group, Inc., a Florida for -profit corporation d/b/a the Ultra Music
Festival ("Ultra") has made a request to the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") to close
the north bound lanes of Biscayne Boulevard from Chopin Plaza to Northeast 6th Street, Miami,
Florida, for a two -weekend event on March 15, 2013 through March 17, 2013 and March 22, 2013
through March 24, 2013, subject certain conditions set forth below;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Miami City Commission supports Ultra's request to FDOT to close the north bound
lanes of Biscayne Boulevard from Chopin Plaza to Northeast 6th Street, Miami, Florida, for a
two -weekend event on March 15, 2013 through March 17, 2013 and March 22, 2013 through March
24, 2013.
Section 2. Ultra shall pay the City of Miami ("City"), $500,000. The City shall create a special
revenue account for the Police and Fire Chiefs' use as part of the Police Department's and Fire
Department's budget.
Section 3. Ultra shall be a one weekend event after this year's 15th anniversary festival,
subject to City Commission approval of a second weekend event in the future. The City Commission
shall have the right to consider a future request for a second weekend event prior to a ticket sale and
prior to November 15, 2013.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to FDOT.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
