The Department of Solid Waste provides Single Stream Curbside Recycling Collection for all City
residences, duplexes and/or triplexes. In October 2012, the department modified their collection to
automated single stream which utilizes a 96-gallon container opposed to the 18-gallon container utilized
previously. Through this conversion to automated single stream recycling it is anticipated that recyclable
materials collected will increase from average of 86 lbs per household to 375 lbs per household.
Therefore, it is essential for the department to establish a term contract for handling and processing
recycling materials with a firm that can receive the anticipated volume.
