A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS
GRANT PROGRAM FISCAL YEAR 2012," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR
THE OPERATION OF SAME, CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARDED BY THE
FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENTAGENCY, UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, GRANTS PROGRAM DIRECTORATE,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $134,176,.WITH A REQUIRED MATCHING FUND FROM THE
CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $33,544, FOR A
TOTAL AMOUNT OF $167,720,TO PURCHASE PHYSICAL FITNESS EQUIPMENT
THAT WILL PROVIDE IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HEALTH AND
SAFETY OF FIREFIGHTERS AND THE PUBLIC THROUGH THE INCREASED
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE'S ABILITY TO
RESPOND TO FIRE EMERGENCIES, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING
SEPTEMBER 18, 2012 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 17, 2013; ALLOCATING THE
CITY'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS, FROM FUND 11000-SPECIAL
REVENUE -FIRE FEE -PROJECT NO. 18-109001 - TASK NO. 05 - AWARD - NO.
1017; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND COMPLIANCE OF SAID
GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $134,176, for
the period beginning September 18, 2012 through September 17, 2013, from the Federal Emergency
Management Agency ("FEMA"), United States Department -of -Homeland Security ("DHS"), Grants
Program Directorate; and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the City, in the amount of $33,544, are required as a condition of
said grant, and are available from the City's Fund 11000-Special Revenue -Fire Fee -Project No. 18-
109001-Task No. 05- Award No. 1017; and
WHEREAS, as stipulated in the grant award, the Department of Fire -Rescue will use said funds to
purchase physical fitness equipment that will provide immediate improvements to the health and safety
of firefighters and public through the increased effectiveness of the Department of Fire -Rescue's ability
to respond to fire emergencies; and
WHEREAS, a physically fit force will be better prepared to save countless lives and protect
property in our densely populated City; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute any
necessary documents to implement the acceptance and compliance of said grant, and to appropriate
same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by, reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:
FUND TITLE: Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Fiscal Year 2012
RESOURCES: Federal Management Agency -United States Department of
Homeland Security Grants Program Directorate $134,176
City Matching funds from Fund 11000-Special Revenue -
Fire Fee Project No. 18-109001-Task No. 05-Award
No. 1017 $33,544
APPROPRIATIONS:
$167,720
Section 3. This appropriation is contingent upon final grant approval by FEMA, DHS, and the
City Manager's acceptance thereof.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1 } to execute the necessary documents to
implement the acceptance and compliance of said grant award.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor. {2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
