A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "SCHOOL
RESOURCE OFFICER PROJECT" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, CONSISTING
OF A GRANT FROM THE MIAMI-DADE OFFICE OF GRANTS COORDINATION, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $16,445, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORM, AND ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO
IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a strong interest in reducing truancy in its City schools;
and
WHEREAS, truancy efforts will be directed to middle and high school age youth through the
Resisting Aggression Defensively Program ("RADKids"); and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Police will continue working with the RADKids, along with
School Resource Officers to provide crime prevention educational classes to all targeted schools; and
WHEREAS, the City has received a grant in the amount of $16,445 from Miami -Dade County,
through the Miami -Dade Office of Grants Coordination for said purpose; and
WHEREAS, this award does not require any local match; and
WHEREAS, said grant program is for the period of October 1, 2012, through September 30,
2013;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

RESOURCES: Miami -Dade County Office of Grants Coordination $16,445
APPROPRIATIONS: $16,445

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the Agreement, in substantially the
attached form, and all necessary documents in order to implement the acceptance and administration
of said grant.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
